The Embassy’s micro-project scheme is part of Germany’s overall development cooperation that contributes to poverty alleviation and improvement of living standards, to cover the basic needs of the poorest social classes, especially in rural areas.

In support of the Afghan reconstruction and development efforts, the Ministry of Finance and the German Development Bank (KfW Entwicklungsbank) signed two Financing Agreements worth EUR 65 million (approx. USD 87 million).

In a step to further expand the long-standing partnership between Afghanistan and Germany in support of the Afghan education sector, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the German Embassy and the German Development Bank (KfW Entwicklungsbank) signed today (4. December 2011) a Financing Agreement over EUR 20 million (approx. USD 26,5 million).

The German Ambassador Rüdiger König inaugurated today (June 18th, 2011), together with the Afghan Minister for Finance, Dr. Omar Zakhilwal, as well as the Director General of the Afghan Water Administration, the newly built joint headquarters of Kabul Water Supply, KWS, and the state owned water supply system operator, Afghanistan Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation, AUWSSC.
