Development Cooperation between Germany and Afghanistan

Since the beginning of 2002, Germany has made a key contribution to reconstruction in Afghanistan. At the Tokyo Donor Conference that year, Germany pledged a total of 320 million euro for 2002 through 2005; these funds were fully disbursed by the end of 2004. At the International Afghanistan Conference in Berlin in March 2004, Germany made an additional pledge of 80 million euro per year for 2005 through 2008 to fund reconstruction measures, and extended this commitment by two years to 2010 at the London Conference in January 2006.
